William Arthur Servant (4649) attested for the 8th South African Horse on 19 April 1916, aged 24 years. He served in East Africa and was discharged on 25 March 1917. Stolen during a burglary in Pietermaritzburg – South Africa in January 2001. These medals were subsequently sold at auction be Dix Noonan Webb (London) on 2 March 2005.

The descendants of William George COLE are searching for his missing war medals. William George COLE (real name) served in the 53rd Battalion, AIF (Australian Imperial Force) during the Great War, on the Western Front. At one time, he enlisted under the alias of William George BELL. He was killed in action on 26th September, 1917. His medals left the family in the 1980's and are greatly missed. Any help in recovering the medals would be really appreciated. I have listed these medals also under the name of William George COLE as we are not entirely sure which inscriptions may be on the missing medals.

Any assistance in helping my family to recover these missing war service medals would be greatly appreciated.

I found a listing for this medal at: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/rifle-brigade-killed-action-casualty-307229615. This listing indicates that the British War Medal awarded to Wilfred Lavis NORTHAM was sold via the eBay U.K. auction site (date unknown). Wilfred Lavis NORTHAM was my grandmother's brother. I have been unable to find out who sold it or who bought it. I would love to see it returned to our family. If the person who purchased the missing British War Medal of Wilfred would kindly consider selling the medal to his descendants, we would very much appreciate it.

Serjeant Ernest Hardy was a member of the 10th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers - died November 1916 Medals and commemorative plaque (Memorial Plaque) whereabouts unknown. His medal entitlement consists of the British War Medal and Victory Medal. Widow had died by the time his medals were issued. Possibly passed into her family. Her maiden name was Bull. Records on hand with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) indicate his exact date of death was 9th November 1916 and his name is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres, Belgium.
