Corps/Service:Infantry
Country: Australia
Is this the real Private Harold BROWN who first enlisted into the 22nd Infantry Battalion of the AIF, then transferred to the 57th Infantry Battalion? Medals Gone Missing is searching for the direct descendants of Harold BROWN from Melbourne Victoria. Harold was an orchard worker and his father's name was Theo BROWN. Of interest, there are two photographs on the website of the Australian War Memorial; ONLY ONE of which could in fact be Harold BROWN. It appears that records generated by the original photographers, Darge Photographic Company do not clearly indicate which of the two diggers is actually Harold. Subsequently, MGM would like to make contact with the direct descendants of Harold BROWN so that this minor mystery can be solved.

A privately produced bracelet commemorating the service of Rowan ROBINSON has been found in Teralba Park, Mitchelton near the soccer field during June 2015. It is engraved:- "Remembering Sapper Rowan Robinson IRR. Afghanistan SOTG". Sapper Robinson was serving with the Special Operations Task Group when he was tragically killed in action on Monday 6 June 2011 (Afghanistan time). Information from the Department of Defence indicates Sapper Robinson was born in Wahroonga, NSW in 1987. He joined the Army in 2006 and after his initial recruit training joined the 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment. After four years of service he was posted to the Incident Response Regiment at the start of 2010 where he completed his reinforcement cycle.
This was Sapper Robinson’s second deployment to Afghanistan, having deployed on Operation Slipper in 2007. In the words of one of my friends who has found this commemorative memento:- "It means something to someone" and as a result, we would like to have it returned to the person concerned.

J.E.DEAN
Service No:VX42295
Unit No:2/29
Corps/Service:Infantry
Country: Australia
An Australian issue general service tunic, once issued to Sergeant John Edwin DEAN has been located and purchased from an antique store in Fairy Meadow, New South Wales. Sergeant John Edwin DEAN is a veteran of the 2/29th Infantry Battalion and fought during the Malaya campaign during 1942. He was subsequently captured by the Japanese when Singapore fell on 15 February and entered captivity. Battalion records indicate that he may have spent his captivity in Changi Prisoner of War camp, however research into his service records may indicate if he was sent outside of Singapore during his internment. Whilst this tunic is the early patter and was manufactured during 1942, it is likely this was his "coming home" tunic which was issued upon his return to Australia (before discharge). Unfortunately, the colour patches and badges have been removed by persons unknown. His details from the World War Two Nominal Roll are as follows:- Australian Army
