I am seeking the World War 1 service medals of my ancestor George Harold Hall. George was wounded at Gallipoli on 24 July 1915 and later died of wounds at Bullecourt France on 10 May 1917.The medals were originally issued to his sister F McCann of Surry Hills NSW. It is not known what happened to these medals after her death in 1975. According to the First World War Embarkation Roll, George embarked on 10 April 1915, Place of embarkation: Sydney Ship embarked on: HMAT Argylishire A8. At that time he was alloted to the 1st Infantry Battalion of the Australian Imperial Force. George's original service number was 1767 however for some reason it was later changed to 1541.

The medals were originally issued to his mother F McCann of Surry Hills NSW (my grandmother's cousin) whom I knew well when I was a small child. My Grandfather Private Sydney WOODS served in the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry from 1908 until 1920. He was captured in March 1918 at Sommecourt by the Germans and held as a POW for a number of months. Sadly after his death his medals were sold by my grandmothers new husband to provide money for his drinking habit. We would love to find his medals and return them to his son. The medal set consists of the 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. He should even have the Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal or a Territorial War Medal.

Sergeant Thomas Smith BELL (sometimes cited T.T. BELL), 23rd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, was awarded the Military Medal (Gazetted 1 Oct 1916) whilst holding the rank of Corporal. And Military Medal with Bar (Gazetted 6 Jan 2017) whilst ranked as Sergeant. His medals were part of his estate but have not been seen since the 1980s and the medals are now lost. He was then living in Chelan, SK, Canada. We have looked since for any sign of the medals in the market with no luck. He was invalided out due to war injuries in 1918 and after recuperation he homesteaded in the Porcupine Plain Dominion Soldiers' Settlement in Saskatchewan, Canada. He died in 1950 with no issue. He was my grandfather's brother.

My family is searching for the First World War Gallipoli Medallion attributable to Lindsay John OLLING. This ANZAC Medallion is without lapel badge as the original recipient died in World War 1. It was sold by his sister who was his next of kin recorded on his records. Lindsay John OLLING served with the 13th Infantry Battalion. According to the First World War Embarkation Roll, his departure details are:- Ship embarked on: HMAT Shropshire (A9). Date of embarkation: 20 August 1915. The family will buy it back if it can be found.
