Date of sale: 27 November 2016 Personal belongings pertaining to First World War veteran Henry Robert McCURDIE. Born in Leith, Edinburgh. At enlistment he provided his occupation as 'Miner and sailor'. In actual fact he enlisted under an assumed name. At the time of his enlistment he was living in Denicull Creek, Ararat, Victoria. He was transported to Egypt and served with the Camel Corps. In Heliopolis he was court-martialed for being 'absent. At a later date he is discharged as 'Medically unfit' and returned to Australia. Post war Henry Robert McCURDIE collected his medals in the early 1920s from Victoria Barracks and later was required to provide a Statutory Declaration due to a loss of RAS badge. He lived until 1974 and is buried in Burwood.
