BraidwoodPerhaps one of the most photographed of all country war memorials, this particular monument is situated on the Kings Highway - between Canberra and the Far South Coast (Batemans Bay). This memorial is often seen on television documentaries and publications, whenever an image of a "typical" Australian country war memorial is required. However, as with all records of commemoration - there is nothing "typical"about the sacrifice made by the residents of Braidwood and it's surrounding district. The memorial was unveiled on the 5th of June, 1922 and it occupies a prominent position within the township. Image courtesy of Mark & Jen Croker of Goulburn. DelegateDelegate War Memorial, in south eastern New South Wales - near the Victorian border. It is of interest that a famous "Recruitment March" called 'The Men From Snowy River' started from this point in early 1916. It finished in Goulburn, New South Wales and many of it's recruits ended up serving in the 55th Infantry Battalion, AIF during World War One.
