Advanced Search

  • Name: Entering SURNAME only should be sufficient to achieve a result. Initials only of first names, seperated by full stops may be entered. No spaces between the start of the Surname and the full stops: example: J.F.MCGRATH or C.H.TRAYNOR. Apostrophie must be entered e.g. O'REILLY
  • Serial Number: Search by serial number. This is always the best way to find a particular person, but bear in mind that sometimes for various reasons, a serial number may have been changed.
  • Country: Find all medals and militaria based on country
  • Corps: Search by Corps or Service only: i.e. Artillery, Mounted (this includes Cavalry & Lighthorse) Merchant Navy, Air Force, Armoured etc.
  • Unit Number: Enter the unit number ONLY - no other details. i.e. to find all items under the 10th Lighthorse Regiment - simply type in the number 10. If searching for a composite unit such as the 55/53rd Militia Battalion (Australian Military Forces) - simply type in 55/53. NOTE: a number only will yield results for ALL countries.

Country: Australia
Date of sale: 04 April 2008
World War On Bereavement Card concerning the death of Private George Russell TESTER. It appears that the First World War Embarkation Roll has incorrectly spelt his name (recording it as "TESLER") The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has his name correctly spelt and records his date of death as being the 02nd of June, 1917. He embarked on the 11th of January, 1916 with the 10th Battalion but is likely to have been transferred to the Pioneers during the restucture and forming of the 5th Division in Egypt. Tragically, his brother Oliver was also killed in action and both are subject of the same card.
