I am searching for the full entitlement of honours and awards of Sydney Allan MATCHETT which were awarded in accordance with his service during the Great War. This includes his Cross of Sacrific, British War Medal, Victory Medal and Memorial Plaque (also colloquially known as a Dead Man's Penny) Sydney Allan MATCHETT served with the 26th (New Brunswick) Battalaion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. I am sorry to say that he was killed in action on the 21st of April, 1918. Son of Allan and Martha Matchett, of New Brunswick. According to the CWGC records (Commonwealth War Graves Commission) Sydney Allan MATCHETT lies buried at the BELLACOURT MILITARY CEMETERY, RIVIERE. I have information which indicates that the plaque was sold by a Montreal dealer (Mont Royal Medals) in the early 2000's.

Lt BENNIE won the Military Cross for Leadership, Courage And Coolness on Satelberg Road 9/10/43.

According to the World War Two Nominal Roll, Robert John BENNIE was born on the 18th of August, 1919 at Nowra in N.S.W. He was awarded the Military Cross for service in New Guinea.

According to the World War Two Nominal Roll, he was born on the 18th of August, 1919 at Nowra in N.S.W. This collection of paper work contains original telegrams congratulations on your decoration (Award of the Military Cross), girl friends certifcate of discharge, original records awarding the military cross, photos of Lieutenant BENNIE as a cadet officer, graduation dinner menu cards, marriage certifcates, original letters to his sweetheart (Ruth BENNIE who is also listed as his next of kin) and a friend, original envelopes, copies of death certicates etc. A victory analyse document pertaining to the El Alamein action. Lieutenant Robert John BENNIE won the Military Cross for leadership, courage and coolness on Satelberg Road on the 9th of October, 1943.

According to the First World War Embarkation Roll, Charles William SCHULZ boarded HMAT Katuna (A13 on the 11th of November, 1915 at Port Adelaide. His next of kin was his Mother, Mrs Mary Sarah Schulze of Paradise, South Australia. This photograph was placed on the open market but failed to sell on the 30th of June, 2011. According to the World War Two Nominal Roll, he enlisted into the AIF on the 23rd of July, 1940 and his service number was VX44730. He discharged from the AIF on the 6th of December, 1945. Posting on discharge was the 2/6th General Transport Company. His next of kin was Ernest DOYLE.

Australian Second World War Victory Medallion for H.M.A.S Sydney issued for the encounter with the Italian cruiser Bartolomeo Colleoni. This medallion was awarded to Ordinary Seaman Ronald Malcolm Ross McDONALD whose service number was 23477. According to the World War Two Nominal Roll, Ronal Malcolm Ross McDONALD was born at Ridgley, Tasmania on the 5th of September, 1922. Ronald Malcolm Ross McDonald enlisted into the RAN on the 9th August,1939 and discharged SNLR on the 10th November, 1941 following 30 days dentention. This medal was awarded to Sydney crew members following the sinking of the Italian cruiser Bartolomeo Colleoni by HMAS Sydney in the Mediterranean in July 1940. It is extremely rare, most were lost with the ship when she was sunk on 19th Nov 1941 by the German raider Kormoran in the Indian Ocean. Ordinary seaman McDonald did not share the fate of this gallant ship as he was discharged only nine days before this action and hence this medal has survived. This medallion is currently for sale on ebay (as of 29/08/2011) for $4,950.00 AUD. Ebay number 380365261611.
